What the Numbers Mean
Understanding your readings is easy with the Omron 7 SERIES blood pressure monitor. The easy-to-read screen displays your readings in large font and labels each number with a tab along the side.
- Systolic Pressure is the top number on the display. It’s the pressure created as your heart contracts to pump blood throughout the body.
- Diastolic Pressure is the bottom number on the display. It’s the pressure between beats, when your heart relaxes.
These numbers combine to give you your blood pressure reading (systolic over diastolic pressure).
How to Monitor + Tips
Your blood pressure numbers often change. For instance, your blood pressure in the morning can be significantly different than at night, when you visit a doctor’s office, or after exercising. By using an Omron blood pressure monitor at home, you’re able to detect changes in your blood pressure any time you want.
Monitoring at Home is Easy
To ensure an accurate reading, do not measure your blood pressure within 30 minutes of:
|
Place the blood pressure arm cuff on your left arm and sit quietly for approximately five minutes with both feet flat on the floor. Then, when you are ready to test, simply press the start button and the Omron monitor will do the rest.

Good, if you use it correctly.,
I’ve been taking my own blood pressure readings since the 1980s. I have experience with the old, manual type upper-arm sleeves with stethoscope; digital, automatic [no stethoscope] upper-arm sleeves, and this wrist monitor. I even tried the old Omron finger blood pressure monitor many years ago which were reviewed as being inaccurate and which I don’t think are sold anymore, except there are some cheap knockoffs [non-Omron] still being offered for sale.
My primary concern with any blood pressure measuring device is that it be accurate. Convenience is nice, but if it’s inaccurate then it’s not very useful, and could even be dangerous if relied upon.
I was convinced to try this wrist monitor after reading that it was well-rated by Consumer Reports magazine. I had been put off non-armcuff models after having tried the older Omron finger blood pressure monitor (as described above). While convenience isn’t paramount to me, I wanted something that was less obtrusive and less noisy that I could use at work; but again, only if it were accurate.
The device is well made and convenient to use. It makes some noise, but it is less than the Omron HEM-711 model I was using previously. The noise is mostly from the small cuff inflating, but again, it isn’t onerous. If it makes any sense, I’d say the noise is less than half of what the model HEM-711 puts out. There are beeps that tell you if the cuff is positioned correctly and for other user feedback, but they can be disabled if desired.
Now for the accuracy part:
When I first slapped it on it wasn’t very accurate. The readings were too low for me. I’m familiar with my range, and these were about 20 points too low. So, okay, now I was bummed out. But… I still wanted to give it a fair shake remembering that Consumer Reports had given it good marks for accuracy. So I decided to be more rigorous about it.
What I did was make sure I was calm and relaxed and then proceeded to do a fairly standardized comparison between my Omron HEM-711 and this new Omron BP652 with several readings and short periods of rest between them. I found that if I used the BP652 correctly that it was accurate. So what did I do? Here’s how I use it to get the best results:
* Mount it correctly on your wrist. It matters that it is aligned with your thumb, as outlined in the manual.
* Mount it correctly (part 2): It matters that you avoid that protruding bump from the bone in your wrist, as outlined in the manual. This means you have to mount the device to ride slightly higher on your wrist than you’d expect. It shouldn’t be worn as you would a watch or a bracelet. It goes about 1/2″ higher than that. It feels a little funny at first, as if it should be lower, but like I said, this positioning counts.
* Set the option for when it starts recording your blood pressure as “on2”. I won’t attempt to explain the details of how to configure this setting here, but when you read the instructions it’ll make sense, and it’s easy enough to do. Basically, that’s the setting that makes sure you have it positioned correctly before it takes the blood pressure reading. It’ll wait until you have it right. The default setting starts taking the reading after a short amount of time even if it isn’t correctly positioned. I imagine the default setting is meant for certain cases where patients have some kind of mobility impairment, but I don’t know that for sure.
* When it’s in the right position, move it away from your chest. Don’t move it up or down, just move it away from your chest so that it isn’t touching your chest.
That’s it. It seems to have similar readings to my Omron HEM-711. That’s how to get the best readings from this device, but there are more things you need to do. I’m listing them separately because some of you know these things already, and they’re not specific to this device. I’m listing them just in case it may benefit someone, because we’re all in this together:
* Sit upright without straining. Try not to slouch too much or sit bolt upright.
* Keep your feet on the floor not on the footstool.
* Don’t take your blood pressure reading after eating, smoking, or drinking alcohol. Wait at least 30-45 minutes.
* Don’t talk while you’re taking your blood pressure; it drives it up.
* Don’t hold your breath or breath shallowly while taking your blood pressure thinking that if you stay completely still you’d get a better reading. Holding your breath or breathing very shallowly will deprive your blood of some oxygen and trigger the brain’s response to increase your heart rate and thus, your blood pressure. You can breath regularly without negatively affecting your blood pressure.
* If you decide to buy a cuff-type monitor make sure that the cuff is around your heart level, too. If it’s lower the blood pressure readings will be…

Excellent, easy to use blood pressure monitor,
I was very excited to be able to review this product as I have high blood pressure and have searched for years for an easy to use, accurate monitor. Years ago, the best I could find in the marketplace were upper arm, clunky automatic blood pressure monitors that were difficult to use and produced wild, varying results. The Omron Bp652 is an incredible leap forward for accurate and precise home monitoring of one’s blood pressure via a wrist monitor. I of course need to state at the beginning of this review that if you have hypertension, you need to be under a doctor’s care and this product does not replace a physician’s care, however, it is a wonderful tool for monitoring at home how well your meds are , or are not, keeping your blood pressure under control.
To test the accuracy of this monitor, I took it with me to my doctor’s office. My physician measured my bp as 120/81. Minutes later, I used the Omron which gave a measurement of 121/83. That is remarkably close to my physicians bp measurement. Now, I wanted to take a look at how precise the Omron was, i.e. were several measurements taken back to back close? Yes they were! Three back to back measurements by the Omron that night were 116/79, 118/81 and 118/82. Those measurements indicate a high degree of precision. So, in my limited testing that day, the Omron appeared to be exceptionally accurate and precise. I was very impressed.
I think the reason for the Omron’s excellent measurements is in large part due to the superb instructions enclosed with the monitor in conjunction with excellent technology built into the monitor itself. Very good drawings and descriptions are given of how and where to correctly position the monitor on the wrist. Then there is the wonderful Heart Sense technology the Omron employs. For best results, the wrist should be at heart level, or in the “Heart Zone”. To guide the user to this Zone, the monitor uses a system of orange and blue lights. If the light is orange, you are outside of the Zone and/or are not wearing the monitor correctly and will get an erroneous reading. If the monitor is being worn correctly and the wrist (with monitor) are placed within the Heart Zone, a blue light will come on and the cuff will begin inflating. At the very beginning of using this monitor I had a little bit of trouble finding the right position to wear the cuff on my wrist and I also had problems finding my Heart Zone. But the orange/blue light system led me very quickly to the correct way to wear the monitor and then position my wrist relative to my heart. It was a really interesting experience. When the Omron indicated (by the orange light) that everything was not optimal, I did not receive good readings. But when I got it right and the blue light popped on, the results were stunningly accurate and precise as evidenced by the data I gave earlier. It’s really a very easy process, dummy proof (I can be one so I should know!) and very fast.
I really like this bp monitor and would highly recommend it to anyone with blood pressure issues. High blood pressure is an insidious but serious illness capable of killing over time, and it needs to be monitored. The Omron Bp652 is a wonderful home partner for the control of hypertension. And it also needs to be noted that the Omron will pick up an irregular heart beat and report that to the user- very valuable. Even if the pulse is regular, having the pulse rate measured is very convenient as I also suffer from tachycardia (an abnormally fast heart rate) so I can do various activities at home and give my doctor feedback on my heart rate.

Excellent blood pressure monitor,
As someone with borderline hypertension, occasionally measuring my blood pressure is important. I have been using the Microlife 3AX1-4U Premium Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor for several years. It is reasonably accurate and easier to use compared with a manual blood pressure cuff.
The Omron blood pressure monitor is a similar design to the Microlife. They are both wrist monitors that use the oscillometric measuring method. The Omron is more convenient in that it guides the user to the proper arm position. The Microlife requires the user to set the arm in the standard position but does not provide any guidance.
The Omron takes measurements from low to high while the Microlife usually takes three measurements and, like most other monitors, goes from high to low. The three measurements are meant to provide a more accurate averaged reading, but it does take over three times as long. The Omron has a feature that automatically averages the last three readings taken within 10 minutes, so it can provide an averaged reading if desired.
The low to high measurement is particularly convenient and beneficial. This means there is no delay waiting to inflate the cuff and then waiting for the cuff to deflate while monitoring pulse related pressure changes. For people with elevated blood pressure, this also means no need to have the monitor inflate, waiting for the measurement criteria, and then re-inflating above the original pressure. I am surprised Omron does not highlight this feature more. It really makes this monitor stand out.
The Microlife is more sophisticated, has built-in charts, and comes with software and an interface for connecting to the computer. The charts show trends and display more information than the Omron. For some people, this may be helpful, but I prefer the simpler and much faster Omron.

Guys, completely cure your hypertension does not need to be hard (I used to

Hibloderox Remedy (google it). Seriously, I finally eliminated my pain &
embarrassment caused by hypertension for good by using Hibloderox Remedy.
Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor Giving High Diastolic Reading? I have a Citizen CH-606 wrist blood pressure monitor. Whenever I check my blood pressure, the systolic reading is below 140, but the diastolic pressure always show above 95. I got anxious and went up to a doctor. The readings were 150/90 there. Next reading was 120/85. Why is the wrist monitor giving high diastolic pressure reading?
I have one one those it is never right doctor told me to the next dr.s. appointment compare it to one of there’s. i am still looking for one.
Taking A Blood Pressure Monitor To School? I need to take a blood pressure monitor to school, should I just keep it on my wrist at all times? How often do I need to take my blood pressure? I pass out from low blood pressure 2-3 times a day, so my doctor recommended I take my blood pressure at school. Please help (:
It would depend greatly on your school’s rules. Some schools allow the students to keep things like blood pressure monitors with them during the school day, or in their lockers/desks/backpacks. Other schools do not permit students to keep their monitors with them during the school day, but they can be taken to the school nurse’s office or the school office. Then, you would need to go to the nurse/school office each time that you need to take your blood pressure. It all depends on what your school’s rules and policies say about it.
However, sometimes the doctor can call your school or send a note explaining that you need to keep your monitor with you at all times, and they might be able to accommodate you. I would recommend keeping your monitor in a backpack, purse, or other small bag during the day rather than having it on your wrist at all times.
What Can I Do Regarding Posted Items To Me Going Missing? There have been 4 packages that have gone missing from outside my apartment door. (We all do this as we all know one another and if there can take each others packages in)
I realized something was not right when an item I had sent for suddenly appeared outside my door with no package or name & address on it, just the item….a wrist blood pressure monitor!
We have recently had someone move into one of the apartments and it has been since then that the items have gone missing.
I did, just in conversation with her, ask if she knew anything about this item and showed her but she just looked down and said no.
The last item, I have been told was delivered on 2nd April by the post office. I do remember her being at home that day and I was out most of the morning when the post came.
I know I can’t accuse her and I am thinking of putting in a small cctv camera to catch this person and then I will have proof who it is and can contact the police.
Please advise.
Hmm. It’s easy to blame someone who is new to the block but you can never be too sure.
I think a CCTV set up would be a good idea. Then order something and see what happens!

Where I Would I Buy A Home Sphygmomanometer That Doesnt Need A Machine? My aunt needs a self Sphygmomanometer or a do it yourself blood pressure machine. If anyone knows where I could buy that or order and how much it is please let me know as soon as possible. She says its in a little pouch or bag.
Thank You
I will choose the best answer
If you have a Walgreen’s or CVS or other drugstore chain near you, you can find one there. Search “blood pressure monitor” at any drugstore site and you’ll see multiple options. The ones at Walgreens range from $9 to near $100. The ones you inflate manually are cheaper than the ones that do everything automatically, and there are automatic ones under $50.
Some models go on your wrist and some go on your arm so you have a choice of many options.
I Want To Check My Own Blood Pressure And Cholesterol. Is There An At-home Way To Do This? I take birth control and am in my 20s, which are both good reasons to have blood pressure and cholesterol checked. I don’t want to spend a lot of money going to the doctor…would it be cheaper/more convenient to do this at home?
There are blood pressure monitors at many pharmacies that you can use. Or, you can purchase an sutomated cuff – also at your pharmacy. Get the kind the goes over the upper arm. The wrist blood pressure monitors are very inaccurate.
We are close to getting a home diagnostic card that can measure total cholesterol. But it’s not commercially available at present. So you still have to go in and get a fasting blood sample to check your blood glucose and cholesterol. If you go in after a meal, your blood sugar and cholesterol will, of course, be elevated.
How Can I Check My Blood Pressure At Home? Ok i don’t like doing it at doctors or even Kingsoopers buy the pharmacy it hurts idk why im 16 118lbs 5”5 so yeah… is their a natrual way of doing it at home haha? if that’s possible pleaz leave an answer iw ould appreciate it… i never check it for like 5 years haha so i want to… and im not fat i just want to know what my blood pressure is… thanks!
i live in Colorado where exactly can i buy it at?
Home monitoring of blood pressure is a good way of learning your true blood pressure levels over time. Even if you are not overweight you could still have high blood pressure and not know it.
Look for a blood pressure monitoring device that self inflates on the arm. Wrist monitors have been shown to be not as accurate as ones that go on the arm.
Omron is a reliable and popular brand, but there are lots of self inflating home monitoring devices available. You can buy them at drug stores and pharmacies.
High Blood Pressure Or Tight Cuff? I bought an at home omron blood pressure monitor and my readings vary from about 155/80 to 140/76. The cuff tightens my arm to the point that it hurts and leaves red marks all over it. Do I need a bigger cuff or is the tightness normal? Also how many points can my blood pressure drop with a cuff my size?
Take the cuff to your pharmacist to have it calibrated first. Then go to your doctor and have him take your BP the normal way and then use your cuff so you can compare. Your doctor can also evaluate your cuff to see if perhaps the size is an issue, because it can throw the readings off if your arm is quite large.
Sometimes high blood pressure makes the cuff feel REALLY tight. Your readings are high enough to warrant medication so you need to sort out whether or not your home cuff is working properly, the cuff is the correct size, and what your benchmarked BP is at the doctor’s office.
Tip: when taking your blood pressure, don’t talk – just sit and relax.
Is This A Really Unhealthy Blood Pressure And Pulse Rate? I used a DIY blood pressure monitor in the waiting room of the doctors a little while ago and my blood pressure seems really high. It came out as 145/87 with a heart rate of 107.
I’m a 19 year old girl, slim and petite. I’m not unhealthy – I cycle four miles every weekday.
Do you think there could be something wrong, or do you just think it’s the situation of being in the doctor’s waiting room? I had just cycled in and was waiting to have a massive needle put in my arm…
Thanks for any help!
That’s not excessive if you’re tense and haven’t recovered from exercise. It would be rather high measured at rest. If you’re concerned, get yourself a wrist blood pressure meter http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Digital-Automatic-WRIST-Blood-Pressure-Monitor-Carry-case-included-Boxed-/271221092191?pt=UK_Health_HealthCare_RL&hash=item3f26096f5f and check your blood pressure and pulse rate at the same time every day when you’ve been at rest for 20 minutes. If the biggest number is over 120 every day, it’s time to discuss it with your doctor.
For anyone over 30 reading this, the top reading should be less than 100 plus your age minus 10%.
What Is A Good Brand For A Blood Pressure Reader? Or Does It Matter? I am about to buy to my parents a digital/automatic wrist blood pressure reader off of the Internet. My question is if there are major differences between brands or pretty much any I get from eBay for example would be reliable? Thanks!
Hi Edgar,
Omron tends to make good units. Any unit can be damaged, though. You should always check a BP monitor against the human ear (in a Doc’s office). They can go out of whack too. So, this should be done annually. Stay away from the wrist type units. They’re easier to put on, but less accurate. W/a little practice, your parents will be able to use theirs easily. A decent monitor will run you about $60. Good Luck.
Does Anyone Know Where I Can Find A Blood Pressure Monitor With An Infant Sized Cuff? Automatic or manual (that comes with a stethoscope), that isn’t ridiculous expensive, like less than $100? I have a 5mo old with very high blood pressure. I’ve looked everywhere 🙁
Wal-Mart has one that is wrist size. It is adjustable and might work. I have one and it is very accurate. It is an Omron 962 and is on the pharmacy aisle, about $63 including tax. You can buy a stethoscope at some pharmacies, don’t think Wal-Mart has those, but some pharmacies have them for about $30.
If your baby has very high BP, you should take him to the ER and let the people in the hospital get his BP under control. You don’t want him to have a stroke or heart attack.
Don’t buy any other model even though they might be cheaper, they are not reliable. I have had 2 other models and they gave crazy readings, not reliable. If you decide to try it, be sure you only get the Omron 962. I have found it to be accuate. I also have an Omron that I use on my upper arm and have checked it with the one my doctor uses and it is accurate. My wrist Omron also gives the same readings.
Which Blood Pressure Monitor Is The Easiest To Use And Most Affordable? The monitor is for home use to check high blood pressure.
I have an Omron automatic arm attached blood pressure monitor and I think it’s great. I know several nurses that are using one rather than the conventional monitor with stethoscope.

Which Is More Accurate A Digital Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor Or A Digital Arm One? I purchased an omron wrist digital blood pressure monitor and already had an arm digital blood pressure monitor i went to check and the BP of the arm one was 117/71 but the wrist one showed 102/64.
Which is more accurate so I know which one is my more accurate BP?
Standard monitoring of BP is heart, so the digital Monitor is standard BP. Use arm monitor in order to avoid unnecessary tension. In wrist it will always show low -20 to-30 mm Hg, due to anatomical reasons (which is normal)
Omron Bp Monitors? Hello. im worried about blood pressure. my family i believe has normal blood pressure, besides my dad, who only has high bp because he drinks way too much beer. anyway, im 14, 5’6.5”, and 120 lbs, which is skinny. at the doc, when i got my physical, my pulse was 90, and my bp was 95/70. i was told this was good. i must note that they took the bp in my right arm. anyway, in health class, we used a finger monitor, and i was like 145/102. so bullshit that was. so, my dad got a 100doll. omron monitor. i take it almost daily while im at his house and at diff. times. it’s weird though- ill take it, and it will be bad, then ill take it again immediately after, and it will be good. and, my bp doesnt’ seem to be higher when i first wake up in the morning. could there be a diff. in right and left arm bp? this seems too odd. also, i was very anxious at the docs,as it was my first ever physical. thanks.
Your blood pressure will be a little different each time you take it, never exactly the same. Omron has a good reputation for a (are you ready?) sphygmomanometer. There should not be a big difference between left and right measurements. Some people always have a higher reading in a doctor’s office – they call it a “white coat” reaction because they’re more tense. BP is higher with stress, anger, fever, exercise, and lower while lying down, relaxed bored, early morning, etc. If you keep a “diary” the doctor will just check the general range of numbers listed. They’d like you to keep it within a healthy range, and if it’s consistently high, help you try to get it down with meds, or conversation. Low blood pressure is usually a good thing, I was told.
I Bought A Wrist Cuff Blood Pressure Monitor Its Made By Omron How Good And Accurate Are They Though? It even has a symbol for a heart if there is something wrong with the heart
The heart symbol means you can press the start button as the monitor is not ready to start until you see that heart symbol.
My Omron monitor at home gives much better readings than the doctor’s machine in his office due to the white coat syndrome. The doctor was a bit reluctant to accept that explanation so he requested that I bring my Omron the next time, so he checked my BP with his machine and then I checked it myself with my Omron and the results were about the same but nowhere near as good as when I check my BP at home in a more relaxed environment.
A lot of people are tense and can’t relax in a doctor’s office and that gives a much higher BP reading than at home due to the white coat syndrome.
Can Any Suggest Any Effective Self Blood Pressure Monitoring Device, Which Is Available In India?
Most wrist monitors are good just change batteries religiously
Can Sinus Tachycardia Cause My Digital Omron Blood Pressure Monitor To Pick Up Irregular Heartbeat? First of all, I just went through an EKG, Echocardiagram, and a Stress test about a little over a month ago. I had to wear a heart monitor for a month also to see if they could catch any rhythm issues that might cause me to have a rapid heartrate at times. I just got those results a little over a week ago. I was told that all of the tests above came back great, and that I had a strong healthy heart. I was also told that I didn’t have any problems with the rhythm of my heart, but that I had something called sinus tachycardia where my rhythm is normal but my just beats a little faster than normal. My heart doctor said it was not life threatening or anything. Anyway, I bought a new blood pressure monitor yesterday.. one of those Omron ones that also detects irregular heartbeats. I took a few measurements yesterday and a few today. It detected irregular heartbeat only once for those readings. I am wondering if sinus tachycardia.. could cause this monitor to register irregular heartbeat? thanks 🙂
I also have sinus tachycardia also. just hang in there with the symptoms…sometimes it gets really annoying, but not life threatening. do go back to the docs if you start becoming dizzy or lightheaded, though.
as for the monitor—yes, i do believe it could happen. also, your heart rate isn’t completely ‘on’ all the time…just like a machine, sometimes it trips a bit and a lot of times you never feel them, and they are harmless. also, it could be a glitch in the machine. perhaps you moved your arm or something that the machine took as a pulse that wasn’t.
if you had all the tests then you should be fine. i worried for a long time after i had the med. tests and they all came back okay, but just hang in there…=)

Difference Between Blood Pressure Monitors? Let me start off by saying, I use to be on blood pressure meds about a year ago, but stopped taking them because my blood pressure was dropping too low. But, anyways, I went to the doctor today over an ear ache, and my blood pressure was 155 over 92. So I had the doctor check it again before I left and it was 122 over 99. So she said that I needed to start taking a water pill because the bottom number is too high. I monitor my blood pressure at home regularly, and its never that high. Its usually 125 over 65 on average. But its always high when im at the doctors office. So I came home and took it roughly 30 min. after I left the docs, and it was 124 over 58. I monitored it that evening and it stayed around 118 over 60. But my question is which blood pressure kit should I trust. I have one that goes around the upper arm, which is the one I always test with, and its testing around 118 over 60, but I also have an older type that goes around the wrist. I decided to test with it and it reads around 124 over 88. The one that goes around the wrist always tests higher on the bottom number, but its closer to what it is at the doctors. I know the kits that go around the wrist are not that reliable, but the readings on that kit are closer to what the doctor is getting. So which one is right? Im concerned because 120 over 60 I know isnt bad, but i know 88 on the bottom number is a bit high. So which kit should I trust, the one that goes around the arm, reading normal, or the one that goes around the wrist, reading higher, but closer to what the doctor is getting?
Hi there. The bp kit that you should be using is the one that goes on the upper arm because the main artery is nearer to the heart and therefore the reading is more accurate. The wrist one is further away and therefore not as reliable. Anyway, why do you keep taking you bp all the time. By doing that you are making yourself worry more, hence the high readings. It should be done once a week not every day otherwise your doctor would want you to see her every day to take it. Just settle down, use the upper arm cuff once a week, keep a record of it and let your doctor know every time you see her.
What To Choose Between Omron HEM-790 Upper Arm Vs Omron HEM-670 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor? Is there a blood pressure monitor that you can wear all day and it will just measure and record your BP all day?
That type of information would not be particularly useful as your blood pressure is constantly changing in response to your activity. Here is an explanation of the ideal way to take your blood pressure (from http://www.smart-heart-living.com/high-blood-pressure.html )
When taking your blood pressure, avoid smoking, eating, drinking coffee, tea, or alcohol, or heavy physical exercise for at least 30 minutes prior. Sit quietly for 5 minutes. Take two readings about 3 – 5 minutes apart. Keep a record of your readings. This will help you see any changes over time, and create a record you can share with your doctor.
The other thing is that the wrist type of monitors are not considered as accurate as the type with an arm cuff.
Is The Store Blood Pressure Monitor Accurate? Today before leaving for work my BP monitor Omrom HEM 780 gave me 145/97 , I went to the store and it gave me 148/105 which is very high , which one I should trust? The Omron has 498 readings , 4 stars at 5 on Amazon.
PS: Also I wait only 2 minutes before taking the reading at the store
All monitors are different.the one at the store is messed with daily and can have certain issues. So it could be off by a little and read higher. When i take my BP at the Dr office i go and check it at a store to to see the difference.
How Accurate Are Wrist Blood Pressure Monitors?
Wrist monitors are not recommended for a high degree of accuracy. If you want a general ideal, they will suffice, however if you want accurate data for a medical condition, you really need to invest in an around the arm type.

Where Can I Find A Pediatric Automatic Blood Pressure Wrist Monitor? Did you get all that? I want a Pediatric, Automatic, (digital) blood pressure monitor for your wrist that isn’t a piece of junk. Of course, that is if it even exists. The person’s arm and wrist are SO small nothing works. A pediatric manual arm cuff works, but I need something automatic. Something simple. The Omron wrist model we were using is now too large and does not provide accurate readings. I think I saw somewhere a “finger” blood pressure monitor ?.. what? Well, whatever works. Thigh pressure monitor is out. So who knows what’s out there?? REALLY need some help and soon. Thanks in advance.
Mister T’s answer didn’t help at all. Looking for pediatric WRIST.

Blood Pressure Question? I know this is a long question, but could someone help me out, please?
I was diagnosed with high blood pressure about 6 months ago. I was sick and went to the doctor and found out I had strep throat, a sinus infection, and high bp. I’ve been using one of those wrist blood pressure cuffs to check my bp about twice a day. How reliable are those things? Lately I’ve noticed that my bp seems to be lower when I DON”T take my medication. When I don’t take the meds it’s about 100/65, I’m afraid that my bp would get too low if I took the medication. What are symptoms of low bp? When I DO take the medication my bp is about 120/75. How is that possible?
My last check-up at the doctor the nurse even made a comment that maybe my bp was so high that one time because I was so sick. I’m going to a new doctor this month, but I’m not sure what to tell her. Any ideas on what I should do??
Thanks.
Without check a manual blood pressure right after checking a wrist monitor blood pressure, there is no way of knowing how far off your wrist one might be. What these machines CAN do is track TRENDS in your blood pressure which you can report to your physician. You should be doing one blood pressure each day, at the same time each day and after sitting quietly for at least 10 minutes and recording that. Take this with you to your appointment and then talk with the doctor about your medication/not taking medication and let him figure out what is going on.
Do You Reset Blood Pressure Monitors ? I am going to buy a wrist Blood Pressure Monitor and it says it will hold 100 and some readings. After it has reached this capacity can the Blood Pressure Monitor be reset … reset itself … or do you have to buy another one ? Also is there one that is most accurate. I’ve been doing research before I buy this. Thank You for all help .
Blood pressure monitors will simply delete the oldest reading and record the latest one – in that way, you will have access to the last 100 measurements. You don’t need to actually do anything, this is done automatically.
Wrist blood pressure monitors are all much of a muchness.
Where To Buy A Blood Pressure Monitor? Trying to find a reliable source to buy an ambulatory blood monitor, but trying to search for opinions on a medical supplier just turns up a bunch of web stores no matter how I try to narrow it down.
You can buy a BP monitor such as an Omron at a Chemist or Pharmacist. They cost about $150.00.
How Do You Correctly Read A Blood Pressure Monitor Correctly? My mom has this blood pressure monitor for some time now and she doesn’t know how to correctly read it. like what number is the one that counts. what i mean is can anyone tell me what systolic mmHg means and diastolic mmHg means. i would appreciate it greatly.
Hi Daisy,
The Systolic pressure or the top figure is the one that reads the speed that your mums heart is pumping blood round the body when her heart beats. The diastolic is the speed the blood is travelling round the body when the heart is between beats and resting. Normal Blood pressure in an adult should be around 120 over 80. Your mum should take her BP the same time each day and make sure she has relaxed for at least 5 Min’s before taking it, also a full bladder, talking while taking a reading and having ones legs crossed can all affect the reading. the best monitor to use is an Upper arm one rather than a wrist one as the nearer to the heart the reading is taken the more accurate. Hope this helps.

What Is A Good Blood Pressure Monitor For Home Use? I need to monitor my blood pressure and I am not sure what type of blood pressure monitor is good for home use. I don’t want to spend a fortune on a monitor, but at the same time I don’t want an inaccurate piece of junk.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the finger cup, upper arm cup and the wrist cup. And what is a good brand?
I will be using this on myself so wrapping a cuff around the upper arm like the doctor uses would be a little tough. And I like to stay under $100.
Thanks for any help.
I have a Omron digital blood pressure monitor, I think I paid about $50. Uses the upper arm, for better readings.
