the crocodile’s origins
the true story of the crocodile begins in 1923 after a bet that rené Lacoste had with the captain of the french davis cup team, allan H. Muhr, who promised him an alligator suitcase if he won an important game for the team. This episode was reported in an article in the Boston evening Transcript, where his nickname of the crocodile came to life for the first time. The American public grew fond of this nickname which highlighted the tenacity he displayed on the tennis court, never giving up his prey. His friend Robert George drew him a crocodile which was embroidered on the blazer he wore on the court The legend was born.

I really love this watch. It is far more beautiful in person. The gold really pops against the white background. Plus, the Lacoste logo is strategically located in several places including the face of the watch as well as the band. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the band. I like it. I really like the gold in this watch, which is actually a richer color that you can see better in my photo. My wrist is 6.5″ and I’m on the third-to-last hole, so if you have a large wrist, you’ll probably need to get a bigger band for this watch. The textured band is very comfortable to wear.
